This non chill-filtered single malt, with an unexpectedly high ABV of 46.3% and an appealing natural color, has been matured in new oak barrels from USA (Darach Ur means "new oak" in Scots Gaelic).
This whisky has been made with peated malt barley to give it a deep smoky flavour. This makes "Peaty Tang" very unusual, most distilleries in the Speyside region do not use peat.
Scapa is usually overshadowed by its neighbor Highland Park which is also located on Orkney. To be honest neither we often refer to this distillery. Well there's a reason to do it now!
Like a storm gathering of the Kintyre coast, dark and ominous, yet tastes so good. The richness comes from the high percentage of sherry casks used in maturation. This is a truly classic Springbank.
Sweet scented ,Lime, fresh cut flowers-cloves and roses, with oriental notes.... simply delectable!!!A flower shop in a glass!
